Too Human Too Shitty?

MASSbackwards

The above screen-grab pretty much says it all: over at metacritic.com, the average score for Too Human across 22 industry reviews is 67%.  By videogame industry standards, that’s an average to below average game.  Gulp!

The lowest score went to notable online publication 1up.com, which gave Too Human a measly C-.

Too Human was meant to be Silicon Knights’ magnum opus, a game that’s been in some stage of development for over 10 years.  In fact, it was originally planned for the original Playstation - no joke.

And a long development schedule is hardly the worst of it: Too Human has been frought with controversy, not the least of which was a law suit suing Unreal Engine III maker Epic Games over what Silicon Knights alleged was withholding valuable information so that Epic could horde all the graphical treats for its own mega-hit Gears of War.

Denis Dyack, founder of Silicon Knights, is also infamous for his “ice bucket” blog post wherein he likens the early critical bashings from the media based on preview builds of Too Human, to withstanding the pain of submerging your entire arm into a bucket of ice for as long as you can handle.

Are Denis and company still in the ice bucket, or have they graduated to more pleasant surroundings?  XboxMASS.com will be weighing in shortly on this very matter with a Play Journal and subsequent Review of Too Human over the next few weeks.
