Rock Band 2 gets five new full-length albums

News

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Rock Band rocks, in no small part due to new songs available for download every week.  Sure, EA, MTV Games, and Harmonix may be making a killing, but it’s for good reason.  With several full length albums already available from such artists as Judas Priest, The Cars, and Rush, this is easily the most robust support for a game post-release that we’ve ever seen.

Well, that support is going to go ballistic with the release of the upcoming Rock Band 2: MTV Games and Harmonix announced they’ve sealed the deal with five artists to bring one of their albums to the Rock Band library.

According to IGN reporting news according to Entertainment Weekly, five new albums are in production for Rock Band and on their way presumably over the next several months.

We are reported to be graced with:

  • “The Color and the Shape” by the Foo Fighters;
  • “Blood Sugar Sex Magik” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers;
  • “Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying” by Megadeth;
  • “Nothing’s Shocking” by Jane’s Addiction; and
  • “Texas Flood” by guitar legend Stevie Ray Vaughn.

Also in the works is a special Rock Band 2 compilation of No Doubt hits.

Most notable amongst the bunch is Blood Sugar Sex Magik by RHCP, the watershed album largely responsible for breaking them into the mainstream and launching them into superstardom.  Legendary tracks on Blood Sugar Sex Magik include Under the Bridge, Give it Away, Breaking the Girl, and Suck My Kiss.
