More Halo, please.
Some time ago Microsoft announced that it was working with Lord of the Ring’s director Peter Jackson on some as of yet unnamed Halo based videogame. Then things went very quiet.
However, in Bungie’s Friday weekly update today, Head Writer Frank O’Connor revealed that Microsoft and Peter Jackson are indeed still working on said project, and are ramping up production:
“Microsoft is building a development team to work on future Halo game titles - the first one being [a] collaboration with Peter Jackson. Just like the upcoming Halo Wars from Ensemble, this isn’t “our” game. However, having worked with him already, we are possibly more excited than you are to see what someone of Peter Jackson’s imagination, talent and resources can bring to a Halo game experience. Bungie will, however, continue to remain very much involved in multiple aspects the Halo Universe as part of our ongoing relationship with Microsoft.”
Nothing has been said thus far about what shape this game will take, or whether it will be a game at all. Early hints suggested this may be some form of interactive movie-like experience instead.
Bungie created the Halo franchise exclusively for Microsoft and the XBox brand. Late last year Bungie announced their split from Microsoft as a first-party developer, but Microsoft retained ownership of the Halo property.
