NIN: Echoplex - The Reactogon?!

peachey @ June 28, 2008 # No Comment Yet

Because I’m a fan, that’s why.  But if you really need a reason, take a look at that video drum interface at the very beginning of the video.  Does it remind you of something?

That, and Trent Reznor did the soundtrack for the original Quake.  Quake Wars: Enemy Territory just released on Xbox 360 a few […]

The future of Rock Band or How to compose your own Mass Effect soundtrack

peachey @ June 23, 2008 # No Comment Yet

I couldn’t help but share this.  I think BioWare used this contraption to compose the Mass Effect soundtrack.  Maybe with a Power Glove, this thing could really go somewhere.  The stuff people come up with…

P.S. What the hell is an arpeggiator?!

Uwe Boll on Postal

peachey @ May 24, 2008 # No Comment Yet

Defensive, bitter, loud-mouthed, videogame-nerd bully and reviled director Uwe Boll, just released his “best film yet”, Postal.
Postal, based on the ultra-violent first-person shooters of the same name, is hardly a faithful adaption of the game itself.  As it turns out, the movie is a cathartic interpretation of Uwe’s own frustration with his many and notable detractors […]

peachey @ May 23, 2008 # No Comment Yet

Leading up to the release of Grand Theft Auto IV we couldn’t help but notice that many major publications were making mention of “Review Events”, presumably held by developer Rockstar and publisher Take Two, for large swaths of the mainstream gaming press. Shortly thereafter, we were treated with IGN’s exclusive review of GTA IV, written […]

CBC.ca reports a young woman in Calgary Alberta, Canada, recently underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor.
What’s so unique about this tumor removal was that it was accomplished by a robotic arm.
Moreover, Dr. Garnett Sutherland credited the success of the device to videogames:
“We would all agree that our young children who have become immersed in video games represent the future generation […]

The HD DVD Experience: Xbox 360 HD DVD Review

peachey @ February 9, 2007 # No Comment Yet

The Set Up
1: 42inch HD Panasonic Plasma TV
2: Dolby Pro Logic Surround Sound stereo system
3: Xbox 360
As you can see, I had been ready for the HD movie experience. Actually, I’d been experiencing HD media since I purchased my plasma TV: Xbox 360 outputs videogames natively in 720p, one of a few HD standards. Suffice to say the […]

peachey @ October 1, 2006 # No Comment Yet

You’ve just bought an Xbox 360 or a PS3. Now you need an HDTV to get the best out of your next-gen system. So naturally you’re thinking about plasma. Why? While there’s room for debate, you heard that plasma TVs offer the best picture of all the different HDTV technologies. You’re right. But you hesitate: […]

Taking the Leap: From Standard Definition to High Definition

peachey @ September 5, 2006 # No Comment Yet

A vast majority of gamers do not own a High Definition television (HDTV). There’s no doubt that HDTV is the future, but the future isn’t quite here yet. Many gamers, therefore, will adopt […]
