As the maximum size limits of Xbox LIVE Arcade games continues to rise, we’re bound to see more ambitious and polished projects. The Maw strikes me as one of the first few forays into this brave(r) new world of Xbox LIVE Arcade development. A remarkably solid production in aspects reserved for full retail discs, The Maw surprises with robust visuals, sound design, and gameplay. But perhaps more importantly, it’s charms are unique and unmatched for its medium, making it an Xbox LIVE Arcade title that few should miss. While the Maw is short lived, it is a memorable title full of easy fun.

Not much of a change on the Xbox top 10 most played games list. Call of Duty: World at War sits atop the heap with last years Call of Duty: Modern Warfare sitting in at the number three spot, solidifying the series dominance on the Xbox 360. Of course, their awesome online multiplayer doesn’t hurt either.

On January 26th, Capcom released a demo on Xbox LIVE arcade for Resident Evil 5. Due out in March, the highly anticipated new entry in the much loved series of games promises new settings and heaping of thrills piled up on some scares. We’ll be sure to check it out and then check in with our impressions.
